Barroso DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) honey is produced in the highest regions of Barroso, in the Trás-os-Montes region.

Its particular characteristics are the result of the extraordinary vegetation cover, composed mainly of heather (Erica sp.), found in this balanced and sustainable ecosystem, in a territory classified as a World Agricultural Heritage Site by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The excellence of its quality has been recognized consecutively, year after year, by the achievement of numerous distinctions, medals and titles.
